Australian Course in Advanced Neuroscience

The Australian Course in Advanced Neuroscience (ACAN) is Australia’s answer to the legendary neuroscience training programs held at Woods Hole and Cold Spring Harbor in the US.
ACAN, held on tranquil North Stradbroke Island in Queensland, emulates the magic formula of these programs. Leading Australian and overseas scientists work with small groups of trainee neuroscientists to induct them into a mastery of new disciplines and experimental techniques.

During the three week course participants:

  • attend lectures about the fundamentals of cellular neuroscience
  • receive extensive hands-on laboratory training with the latest equipment
  • conduct a research project of their own choosing

ACAN 2008 will be held from Sunday 20 April to Saturday 10 May 2008.
Applications will open in October 2007.
