Australian Course in Advanced Neuroscience

The Australian Course in Advanced Neuroscience (ACAN) is Australia’s answer to the legendary neuroscience training programs held at Woods Hole and Cold Spring Harbor in the US.
photos in the ACAN lab ACAN, held on tranquil North Stradbroke Island in Queensland, emulates the magic formula of these programs. Leading Australian and overseas scientists work with small groups of young neuroscientists to provide rigorous training in the theory and practice of cellular neuroscience.

During the three week course, participants will:

  • attend lectures about the fundamentals of cellular neuroscience
  • receive extensive hands-on laboratory training in patch-clamping and imaging using the latest equipment
  • conduct a research project of their own choosing
ACAN 2009 will be held from Sunday 19 April to Saturday 9 May 2009.

Applications for ACAN 2009 are now closed.
